Located in North County San Diego, the North County Literacy Foundation (NCLF) was created to change the learning trajectory for children with: Dyslexia, ADHD, and APD (Auditory Processing Disorders).

Schools and years of tutoring haven’t solved the problem for these children. They continue to fall behind and are not catching up with these same approaches. The good news is that research has proven that the brain can change! Studies in brain neuroplasticity reveal strengthening the weaker underlying processes allows these students to catch up and become successful and independent lifelong learners. With therapies at the underlying process level, children ARE catching up and even transitioning out of special education classes!

The North County Literacy Foundation is commited to providing students who have challenges in their learning with a three-fold approach:

1.  EVALUATION

The cause of learning challenges are sometimes difficult to identify the CAUSE of their challenge but easy to fix.  Additionally, sometimes a diagnosis by an audiologist is necessary for the schools to be willing to provide accommodations needed until the problem is fixed.

2.  DEFICIT-SPECIFIC THERAPY

The underlying skills are developed using intense but short-term therapy.

3.  PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT

Students who have experienced years of failure sometimes need additional support by a qualified pscychologist or psychiatrist to rebuild their self-esteem and look to their future as a successful student.
